Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club in Southern Pines, NC will host the 2022 US Women’s Open. We analyze US Women’s Open tournament odds and pick our favorite LPGA bets.
It’s a historic week in terms of the future of women’s golf, as the USGA has significantly increased the purse for this week’s event. There’s been a lot of talk about the amount of money available to golfers on the PGA Tour versus the LPGA, and the US Women’s Open takes a big step toward closing that gap.
The USGA increased the purse by $4.5 million this season, and golfers will now compete for more than $10 million and a top prize of $1.8 million. For context, Tiger Woods received $2,070,000 for his 2019 Masters victory.
Yuka Saso won the US Women’s Open 2021 and she was available for a price as high as +20000 before the event started. Saso beat Nasa Hataoka in the playoffs after Lexi Thompson shot a 41 on her back back nine and saw her lead evaporate on Sunday.
This week’s tournament will also mark the return of Nelly Korda to competition following a blood clot that has kept her out of competition since her last appearance at the LPGA Drive On Championship in early February.
Here are my top picks for the 2022 US Women’s Open at Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club in Southern Pines, NC.

Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club Betting Profile

Pine needles originally had bermudagrass greens, but they were eventually replaced with bentgrass greens. Pine Needles is a par-71 course that will play for 6,546 yards this week for the US Women’s Open.
2022 US Women’s Open Absolute Picks: Favorites
Thompson (+1400 via DraftKings Sportsbook)
Lexi Thompson has been pushing for the US Women’s Open title for several years now, and she should have won last year if not for her late meltdown. Thompson has finished in the top five or better three times in her last four US Women’s Open appearances.
In addition to excelling at this tournament, she also had a successful 2022 season, where she ranked first on the LPGA Tour with an average of 2,410 strokes won: total per round.
Korda (+2000 via BetMGM)
Korda has not competed in an LPGA event since early February due to surgery to remove a blood clot. Although she hasn’t played competitive golf in almost four months, I’m here to tell you: Who cares!
As one of the best golfers in the world, Korda will be hard to find at +2000 odds. Because of the missed time, this price is higher; if it had been in competition for four months, we would have to settle for an investment of +800 on Korda. Last year, Korda had the LPGA’s best scoring average at 68.77 and won four of the 17 events she entered, as well as an Olympic gold medal.
2022 US Women’s Open absolute picks: contenders
Thitikul (+2800 via DraftKings)
If Atthaya Thitikul is able to get more exposure in the national spotlight, his awards will become shorter for the rest of his career. At only 19 years old, Thitikul has already climbed to 5th place in the Rolex rankings during her rookie season.
It’s no surprise that she’s ranked eighth on the LPGA Tour with an average of 1.810 SG:total per round. It’s considerably better than its +2800 price tag would imply. This is likely to be the last US Women’s Open at which you can buy Thitikul for over +2000.
Henderson (+4000 via Caesars Sportsbook)
Following some recent results, Brooke Henderson appears to be priced much longer than she should be by sportsbooks. Since withdrawing from the Lotte Championship due to illness in mid-April, Henderson has missed the cut in each of the only two tournaments she has entered. She has not played an event this month.
Henderson has been preparing for the US Women’s Open for several weeks, and she’s far more gifted than the +4000 odds and 2.44% implied win probability would suggest. Averaging 1,800 SG:tee-to-greens per round, Henderson is fifth on the LPGA.
2022 US Women’s Open absolute picks: Longshot
Jaye Marie Green (+50,000 via DraftKings)
Over the past few years, there’s been one stat that has consistently led to success at the US Women’s Open, and that’s SG: off-the-tee. If you’re looking for a sneaky game from afar, Jaye Marie Green ranks 13th on the LPGA Tour with an average of .640 SG: off-the-tee per round.
Although it may seem like an unlikely outcome, she has already been close to the top of the US Women’s Open leaderboard. In 2019 she finished T-5 and was in contention to win on the final day.
