Colorado Open to award equal prize money for men’s and women’s golf championships – The Denver Post


The Colorado Open has signed a new sponsorship deal to provide equal prize money for its men’s and women’s golf championships.

The state’s premier tournament for amateurs and skilled professionals will award a $250,000 purse for both championships. Individual male and female winners will each take home $100,000. This makes Colorado the first state nationally to match the total prize money for its state openings, according to a press release from the Colorado Open Golf Foundation.

The record purse is provided by Inspirato, a Denver-based luxury travel subscription brand, which took over from CoBank as the event’s title sponsor. The deal runs through 2026 with hosted play at Green Valley Ranch Golf Club.

“The Colorado Open has long been recognized as one of the premier state open in the country, and today we’re building on that legacy through this historic partnership with Inspirato,” said Molly Greenblatt, president of the Colorado Open Golf Foundation Board of Directors. , in a press release. “With the support of Inspirato, we will continue to make a difference in the lives of thousands of young people in the Metro Northeast area through our First Tee program and statewide with the Golf in Schools program.

“And together we will also help raise the bar with what we believe will be the first professional golf tournaments in the world to offer equal purses for men’s and women’s events.”

Women’s tournament: June 1-3
Men’s tournament: July 21-24
Senior Tournament: August 24-26
