Elton John’s Halftime Tribute Triggers ‘Shoe

Ohio Stadium was swinging towards an outsized appreciation of the Rocket Man on Saturday.

After their first break of the season after five straight shows, the Ohio State University Marching Band returned to the ‘Shoe for an electric tribute to Elton John.

TBBITL was joined by the University of Iowa Hawkeye Marching Band to perform some of John’s greatest hits. Between the groups combined, there were over 425 students on the ground during the performance.

Together the bands performed “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”, “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting”, “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart”, “Crocodile Rock”, “Tiny Dancer”, “Rocket Man”, and “I’m Still Standing.” Their formations included a piano, beating hearts, two dancing women and John’s signature sunglasses.

A graduate in information systems, AJ Frasure dotted the “i”.
