Eurosport India wins AFC Women’s Asian Cup broadcast rights


Discovery Network’s sports brand Eurosport India announced on Friday that it has acquired the broadcast rights to the 2022 AFC Women’s Asian Cup. Eurosport India has secured the pay-TV broadcast rights for the Indian market from Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) which owns the media rights for all Asian Football Confederation (AFC) competitions in the Indian subcontinent region until 2024. India will host the 20th edition of Asia’s tournament flagship women’s football tournament between January 20, 2022 and February 6, 2022.

The 2022 AFC Women’s Asian Cup will take place at three venues in India with a total of 12 teams split into three groups vying for the coveted title. India, the host country, is placed in Group A, along with PR China, Chinese Taipei and IR Iran.

The tournament will begin as a round robin where each team will face the other three teams in the group to secure a spot in the quarterfinals to be held on January 30, 2022. The semi-finals and finals will be played in February. February 3 and 6, 2022 respectively. The championship will also serve as the final Asian qualifying stage for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, according to an official statement.
