Fiona Brice puts on other women’s shoes in ‘Through Her Eyes’ – OUTInPerth | LGBTQIA+ News and Culture | OUTInPerth

With his new album Aand you know i care due out October 21 via Bella Union, and having already shared a Rankin-directed video for the title track, Fiona Brice has shared a mesmerizing video for the album’s highlight Through her eyes.

“I wanted to write about seeing the world from someone else’s point of view,” says Brice.

“It’s about trying to create empathy, to withdraw from the center. I sponsored several women through the charity Women to Women International, and the initial idea for the song came from the brief connection I had with them.

“For the video, I decided to ask several of the wonderful creative women I have a working relationship with to contribute a short video of themselves in a place where they felt fulfilled, and then I combined all with images of myself as a very young child, then again in my early twenties, remembering how I felt then, who I was, and connecting to where I am today.

“I wanted to make a meditative, compassionate, calm and reflective record, in response to the increasingly loud, opinionated, aggressive and polemical tone of our daily environment”, explains Brice.

The British multi-instrumentalist, orchestral arranger and composer has drawn on her abundant talents to forge an exceptional record that meets the specifications. Brice’s second solo album for Bella Union, And you know that I careis a deep listening experience that raises the post-classical bar, with Brice says it eschews the genre’s default melancholy for broader, richer dimensions of uplifting bliss.

Through Her Eyes is out now.
