TWP HOLLAND. — After the long Labor Day weekend, fall seems to be in the air. With that comes the annual Holland Halloween Store opening.

Located at 3530 W. Shore Drive in Holland Township, the Halloween store opened to customers on Thursday, September 1, after several weeks of setup by store employees.

Store manager Kim Saviano said the process began in mid-August, setting up tables and displays – and continued even after the store officially opened.

“We normally organize the store by category, often starting with men’s and women’s suits,” Saviano said. “We have a specific layout of how the store is supposed to look and that includes costumes and props. This year we installed a good majority of the store – so once we had the cash registers, we opened.

Holland's Halloween store is currently open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. These hours will be extended in the coming weeks.

What’s popular this year? Saviano and other employees said the hype depends on what’s hot in movie theaters and on TV shows. For kids, Marvel costumes and princess costumes are always bestsellers, along with classics like Super Mario, witch costumes and cat costumes.

For adults, costumes range from witches and cats to Purge and Michael Meyers masks, as well as more family-friendly costumes.

Although the store is smaller than last year, when it was located in the former Art Van Furniture near Felch Street, customers can still find all of their Halloween favorites, including realistic masks, costumes , accessories and more.

Spooky masks are a favorite for teens and adults at The Halloween Store in Holland.

The store has plenty of additional merchandise, which will be used for continued restocking over the next few months.

“It’s definitely going to pick up speed as we head into October and I expect our staff to almost double to serve customers,” Saviano said.

The store is currently open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. These hours will be extended in the coming weeks. The store will remain open until November 2.
