IT CAN be difficult to know which clothes suit your body shape best.
Luckily, a fashion pro has revealed what to wear and what to avoid if you want to look taller.
Fashion star Bethany is 5ft1 and has revealed her tips and tricks to help her look taller.
In a Youtube videoBethany revealed the style tricks she loves, starting with wearing pointy shoes.
“It’s more of an optical illusion than reality,” she reveals.
Pointed shoes help elongate legs – even flat legs as she demonstrates in the video.
But you should always avoid ankle-length heels if you want to look taller.
Bethany explains that ankle straps split the leg, cutting them off rather than extending them.
Next, Bethany recommends going for a monochromatic look to add height.
She adds, “Wearing one color from head to toe will visually create a really long line.
“Not only that, but you can’t really tell where your legs start.”
You can also create the same illusion by wearing the same colorful shoes as your pants reveal Bethany.
Her third piece of advice is to wear extra wide or straight pants, especially if they’re low to the floor.
With the naked eye, it will be impossible to see the actual length of your legs.
Tucking in your top can also help create length, Bethany explains that it disguises your midsection.
For the summer months, Bethany suggests trying paper shorts to create the look of longer legs.
They tend to be longer than other shorts and are usually high waisted, which helps create the appearance of longer legs.
Bethan also recommends trying flared skirts rather than tight skirts.
“Choosing a fabric that has no wiggle room will make your legs look thicker,” she explains.
A cropped jacket or cardigan can also make you look taller because it gives the illusion of longer legs and a shorter stomach.
Finally, Bethany recommends emphasizing your upper half by wearing a top with lots of detail.
“It’s more particular for a pear-shaped person like me, where you might want to emphasize your shoulders with puffy sleeves,” she adds.
