Kanoa earns second victory in women’s football | Sports


KANOA Football Club are the first team in the Tinekcha-Awall or Premier Division of the Dove Women’s League after claiming their second consecutive win by beating Shirley’s Football Club 5-0 on Wednesday at the NMI Soccer Training Center.

Kanoa found his footing early in the game as the Irish Pagarao wreaked havoc from within, sliding past defenders to find the back of the net just two minutes into the game.

Another Kanoa goal was scored in the 9th minute by Allyssya Angeles to extend their lead, 2-0.

Shirley’s then defended well, but in the 35th minute Angeles broke through again to give Kanoa a 3-0 halftime lead.

In the second half, Kanoa remained aggressive, scoring two more goals through Kaithlyn Chavez in the 40th and 43rd minutes.

Shirley went scoreless for the remainder of the match which Kanoa won, 5-0.

TakeCare v Southern United

TakeCare, meanwhile, tasted their first victory of the season as they edged out Southern United Football Club, 4-0.

TakeCare took control early in the game when Britany Wally scored the opening goal in the 2nd minute followed by another goal five minutes later by Lily Muldoon for a 2-0 lead.

Southern United fought back in the second half but couldn’t penetrate TakeCare’s defensive wall.

In the 52nd minute, TakeCare’s Bernadette Horey scored her side’s third goal while Wally sealed their victory, 4-0, in the 68th minute.
