Liu, Tigers perform well in stroke play at Ivy Intercollegiate

Victoria Liu was the top Ivy Leaguer at Baltusrol on Monday.

Princeton sophomore year Victoria Liu took third place in the medal honors chase and the Tiger women’s golf team took third place in the team standings in Monday’s two rounds of stroke play at Baltusrol Golf Club’s Ivy Intercollegiate in Springfield, N.J.

The field includes all six Ivy League and six ACC programs. Princeton was the best Ivy team on the court, finishing +20 behind tag team champion North Carolina, at +13, and second to Florida State, at +18. The top finisher from each of those two programs shared the medal honors, with UNC’s Krista Junkkari and FSU’s Lottie Woad each finishing at -3, one stroke ahead of Liu at -2.

Liu was Ivy’s best player in the field by three strokes, with Columbia’s Allison Paik tied for eighth overall at +8. The Tigers were four spots and 15 strokes ahead of Harvard, the team’s second-highest Ivy. Grace Ni carded an eagle in the second round on Monday, making the par-five-for-three seventh hole.

The event continues Tuesday at 9 a.m. with match play, putting an Ivy League player against an ACC player in order of finish in Monday’s stroke play. While Monday’s play was on the lower course, Tuesday’s will move to the upper course.
