Oyetola’s wife wins global award for exemplary leadership

Osun State Governor’s wife, Kafayat Oyetola, has received a Global Exemplary Leadership Award from a UK-based non-governmental organization, Global Women Inventors and Innovators Network (GLOBALWIN).

The award, according to the NGO, is in recognition of her humanitarian services and commitment to impacting the lives of the masses, including her tireless efforts to advocate for the sexual and reproductive health of mothers, children and adolescents, improve the standard of living of women and children. as well as the creation of gender equality.

Presenting her with the award in the presence of the Governor of the State, Adegboyega Oyetola at Government House, Osogbo, the representative of the Global Network of Women Leaders and Innovators (GLOBALWIN) in Nigeria, Engr. David Abu Osigi, said Ms Oyetola’s appointment followed a rigorous selection and highly competitive process.

He noted that the nomination and selection processes were in reciprocity of the various advocacy intervention programs carried out by Mrs. Oyetola which aimed to advance the cause of women and children, especially vulnerable citizens from the year 2004.

Ms Oyetola was the only Nigerian awarded out of 32 winners selected across the world for the award in October 2021.
Its interventions and response to champion the betterment of women and girls; advance their delivery of quality health services; a vigorous campaign against rape, sexual violence, abuse and gender-based violence (GBV) in general and, in fact, running a public campaign for the elimination of open defecation in the state were among the criteria with which it was considered for the award.
In her brief acceptance speech, Ms Oyetola appreciated the organization’s kind gesture for finding her worthy of the award, describing it as motivation to do more.

Also taking the floor, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola congratulated his wife and commended the Organization for considering her for the noble award.
