Kate Middleton is a regular at the Wimbledon tennis tournament. The Duchess of Cambridge became Royal Patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club in 2016, but even before her sponsorship she made sure to be in the stands every summer.

For the 2022 Women’s Singles Championship, Kate pulled out a dress from her closet: a canary yellow Roksanda midi dress that she last wore in Jamaica during the Cambridges’ royal tour of the Caribbean earlier this year. At Wimbledon, she chose to wear her hair down instead of pulling it into a sleek ponytail:

Kate’s yellow dress comes as no surprise to those who have followed her fashion at Wimbledon – this is the third time she’s worn a yellow dress, perhaps a nod to yellow tennis balls. A version of Kate’s dress, Roksanda’s Brigitte midi style, is still available, in a light maize color.

Kate completed her outfit with Kiki McDonough Eden citrine and flower earrings and Gianvito Rossi white leather pumps. She also wore the green and purple bow of the members of the All England Tennis Club pinned to her dress.

During the match, the Duchess of Cambridge seemed extremely engrossed as she watched the no. 2 Ons Jabeur of Tunisia takes on Muscovite Elena Rybakina, no. 23. Although Wimbledon banned all Russian and Belarusian players this year, Rybakina changed nationality four years ago to Kazakhstan.

The women’s finals are historic for many reasons; Jabeur and Rybakina are playing their first Grand Slam final. Jabeur is the first Tunisian, Arab or African woman to qualify for a Slam final, and Rybakina is the first player representing Kazakhstan to do so.

Kate will likely present the trophy at the end of the game. She began appearing in the Wimbledon trophy ceremony in 2019, slowly taking over trophy duties from Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, who stepped down as chairman of the AELTC in 2021.

Kate has already appeared at Wimbledon once this year, in a blue and white polka dot maxi dress by Alessandra Rich to watch the men’s quarter-finals. We can also expect to see the Duchess of Cambridge in the men’s singles final tomorrow, where Serbia’s Novak Djokovic and Australia’s Nick Kyrgios will battle it out for the title.

“Wimbledon…was really part of my growing up,” Kate said in a 2017 BBC documentary about the tournament. “It’s such an essential part of the English summer, and I think it really inspires young people; it inspired me when I was younger to get involved in the game.”
