Southeast to South Alabama Travels

HAMMOND, LA. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women’s basketball team will hit the road again, but this time a little closer to home to face Southern Alabama on Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. at the Mitchell Center

The Lady Lions (2-2) started their season with a win over LSUA in their season opener 73-27.

Southeastern then hit the road for an eight-day long trek through northern Utah where they played Utah State last Friday night and earned their first road win 78-68.

They then headed to Salt Lake City, Utah where they took on the University of Utah and fell 99-62. Their third and final game on the road was against San Diego State where they fell to the Lady Aztecs 69-53 after holding the lead for just under 11 minutes in the first half.

Taylor Bell, Hailey Giaratano and Alexis Horne were able to take over. Horne had a particularly strong season off the bat with a career-high 24 points in the game against Utah State.

Horne, Bell and Giaratano lead the Lady Lions with 47 points each and are averaging 11.8 points per game. Bell leads overall with four blocks, six steals and five assists.

The United States (1-3) started their season with a win over William Carey on Monday, October 31, 76-31. They suffered their first two losses of the season by Spring Hill 89-45 on November 7 and again by Auburn 71-62 three days later.

Kelsey Thompson leads South Alabama with 49 points and an average of 12.3 points, 24 total rebounds, an average of 6 rebounds per game and 12 assists.
